The GOAT (Great Oaks Achievement Team) After-School Program provides Great Oaks students in grades 6–12 with a safe, supportive, and engaging space to learn, connect, and explore their interests after the school day.
Days: Monday, Wednesday & Thursday
Time: 3:30–5:30 PM
Program Dates: October 14, 2026–June 7, 2027
Open to: Great Oaks students in grades 6–12
Enrollment: First come, first served, with space for up to 105 students
Each GOAT afternoon includes:
20 minutes of Academic Support with a certified teacher or staff member, including homework help, project support, recovery work, or enrichment.
Activities and Clubs that allow students to explore their interests and participate in hands-on enrichment. Students select a club or activity for each 6–8 week session.
Students must participate in both Academic Support and their selected activity or club to remain enrolled in the program.
Students are expected to maintain at least 85% attendance during each 6–8 week activity session. Students who do not meet the attendance requirement may be removed from the program for the following session.
Families select a dismissal option during registration:
Walker: 5:15 PM
Public Bus: 5:15 PM
Pick-Up: 5:20 PM
All students must be dismissed by 5:30 PM. Great Oaks does not provide yellow bus transportation for the after-school program.
Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Families can register online or obtain a registration form from the Middle School or High School Office.

Tenssie V. Ramsay, Licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Connecticut for the past 7 years. Tenssie provides telehealth and in-person counseling services for our behavioral health population from her private practice, CareWings Counseling LLC., located in the downtown area of Bridgeport, CT. Tenssie has a B.S. in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix and an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Bridgeport.
Bea is a recently retired teacher of the Fairfield Public School System, having taught for 25 years at North Stratfield Elementary School, and 15 years at Fairfield Woods Middle School. In addition to classroom responsibilities, she has been a Teacher of the Gifted, Math Resource teacher and Dean of Students. Bea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Psychology from Assumption College, a Master’s Degree in Reading from The University of Bridgeport, a 6th Year Degree in Administration and Supervision, as well as a Certificate of Advanced Study in Curriculum Design, both from Fairfield University.
Bob Carlson is a Bridgeport native and graduate of its schools. He’s owned and/or led construction, manufacturing, and development companies. Bob graduated Fairfield Prep & Lehigh University, included studies toward MBA and Law.

Dr. Matthew Nwosu, MD is an obstetrician gynecologist in Trumbull, CT and has over 15 years of experience in the medical field. Dr. Nwosu earned his Medical Degree at Michigan State College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, MI. He then completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in 2013. Dr. Nwosu has a special interest in laparoscopy, and has training on the Da Vinci Surgical System.
