Credit Accumulation information
Attendance: There are no more days off. The expectation is that we are in school everyday. Academic success is contingent upon students being in class and taking advantage of all of the supports available at Great Oaks. The expectation is for all of our students to miss no more than 7 days a Semester, and no more than 14 days for the school year. Missing more than 7 days in a semester could lead to a loss of credit, and put you off track towards meeting necessary graduation requirements. Please make sure you are reviewing our attendance policy prior to the start of the school year. Our Attendance Policy is attached to this email.
Culture and Community: We will be implementing a responsible dress code for the 2024-2025 school year. Dress code guidelines are attached to this email. We are a school that prepares our students for a college or career of their choice. Students attire should reflect respect for self, others, and an atmosphere of learning. Please pay special attention to what is not permitted on campus Monday through Friday. Students who are not meeting dress code expectations will be held accountable through measures such as alternative learning, loss of school-wide incentives, and can escalate to suspension if necessary.
Chromebooks – We are still a 1:1 school and there is a chromebook for each student. Chromebooks are provided and are optional to take. If you choose to not use a school device you need to make sure that you have access to a computer or tablet daily. Cell phones are no longer permitted as a substitute for a computer or tablet when needed. Students who did not return their device at the end of the school year will not be issued a new device and those devices need to be returned for updates at the beginning of the school year.
Credit Recovery – Credit Accumulation letters were sent out at the beginning of the summer. Any student below the credit threshold that has classes to recover, will be expected to stay Monday through Thursday from 2:40 – 3:40 pm to recover necessary coursework. Formal letters will be sent out to individuals who need to stay prior to the start of the school year. Failure to attend credit recovery will impact intended graduation dates.
